I'm doing NaNoWriMo! After circling around it for days (months, if you consider that I read No Plot? No Problem! this summer), I finally just decided why the hell not (which reminds me, I need to look into absentee voting soon. Kinky for Governor!). So I'm doing it! I even have a rough idea of what I'm going to write. It's all very exciting. After classes today I went to the bookstore and bought a brand new Moleskine and started scribbling about characters and ideas and thoughts.
It's just so exciting to think that less than two months from today I could have a finished novel. Or at least a shitty first draft, as the wonderful Anne Lamott would put it. Of course if my schoolwork starts to slip too much, I will shift my focus. I am at this school to learn about writing, but I don't want my writing to get in the way of my grades. That doesn't make any sense. Besides, I need to keep my GPA up so I won't lose any scholarships. But I'm going to try my hardest to get it all done.
I'm going to be a novelist!
